You can have simplicity back

It's always nice when you can combine two rooms and use up the space - without it being crowded. I love the fact that this white bedroom is kept so simple in white and grey tones. And I'm just so so so in love with the small and discrete desk and the HAY clothing rack.
Have a great day, don't forget to be happy, smile and laugh today

Christmas has come to Apartment 107

Every where I go, I see Christmas. Decorations are hung in the streets of Roskilde, all of the shops have been selling Christmas decorations for months now, and it seems that I'm the only one who hasn't gotten ready for Christmas.
Not that I haven't been tempted to do it weeks ago! I've always had my own tradition of decorating for Christmas the day before the 1st of December, and since I'm the biggest Christmas goose, I've actually been holding myself back.

However, when I went to get the mail a couple of hours ago, there it was: A clear sign that today was the day to get ready for Christmas!
Last Friday I ordered a Christmas Calendar TV Show from when I was a kid, and I didn't count on it being here already. But there it was; "Krummernes Jul" just waiting for me to watch it. So I made myself a big pot of coffee, put on the dvd and just couldn't restraint myself any longer!
So I put on some shoes, went down to the basement, searched my way through all of my storage crap and found my big box of Christmas things.
For the last four hours I've been hanging Christmas lights, decorated my little plastic Christmas tree and been singing along to Christmas tunes.

I haven't gone all out this year, but kept it simple and cosy. However, I'm sure that there will be many add-ons over the next month or so. But ah, what a wonderful day it has been. Here are a few snippets from just one corner - there's a bit more around the place, but you'll have to wait until next week.

Have a happy happy Tuesday

Snippets from Apartment 107

Ah, it's a soft Saturday today.
I had a long, but great day yesterday. First morning classes at school, and then later a little shopping at Ro's Torv, Roskilde's Mall. Then I met up with Kasper, we grabbed a bite to eat and then we saw Hunger Games - Catching Fire.
I'm a huge Hunger Nerd, and I've really been looking forward to the next installment of the franchise. Having read all of the books many times, I was exited to see how they'd adapted the second book to a movie. But boy oh boy, it was great! Still, it can't beat the first movie, but it was absolutely fantastic and overwhelming.
Then after the movie, Kasper and I walked the short way back to my place, where we enjoyed cups of tea, sweet clementines and a lot of movie talk. Ah, it was such a great day yesterday!

Today I'm super tired, but super happy. I'm having a cozy time right now, sitting in my favorite spot on the couch, reading my new home interior magazine and having a cuppa chai latte with cinnamon while candles are burning.
What a happy and soft Saturday it is

Inspiration for setting a beautiful table (and a little Life Lately.)

Hello on such a cold, dark and rainy Tuesday!
I hope you're keeping your spirits up despite of the weather, and that you all have had a great day.
I was Skyping with Kasper all of last night, so I got up way too late today. However, I still managed to give my vote in the Danish "Kommunevalg 2013" and, as a funny side note, I've also gotten my very first pair of glasses today. I'm supposed to wear them all the time now, so I'm a little exited to hear what my friends and family have to say about them.

Well anyway:
These pictures comes from the Swedish blog IKEA is hosting, called "Livet Hemma." I love to have a look at this site from time to time; I always get so inspired. Just like I did with these pictures.
Don't you just want to invite all of your friends over, set a table as beautiful as this and then just have the best night ever?
See you, remember to smile

Screensavers for Mac and Windows

A couple of weeks back I got my very first MacBook - a spankin' new MacBook Air, to be precise.
It's the best gift I've ever gotten; I've always had Windows computers, and while they are slightly easier to work from the get-go - compared to a Mac, in my opinion - they do tend to run out of gas fairly quickly.
Funny thing is, a year ago I was the ultimate Apple hater, and today I own an iPhone, an iPad Mini and now my beloved MacBook Air. Quite a change for one year.

Anyway, I'm in love with my Mac; once I got into all of the different ways of doing things - thanks to my own personal Apple guru and best friend, Kasper (find his blog here) - I can't imagine how I could live with "just a Windows computer" before. Don't get me wrong; I ain't mocking Windows, but I'm just so wrapped up in my Mac right now - haha.

Well, I'm quite babbly today, but the thing I wanted to post about was this:
A MacBook in itself is a piece of art, but I've found that different "goodies" can make a huge difference to just a black screen. A screensaver can go a long way, and it can actually compliment the interior in your office, living room or where ever you keep your computer.

I'm not so fond of the original screensavers that came with the Mac, so I quickly became obsessed with finding screensavers myself.
Of course I turned to Fliqlo right away; it's simple, minimalistic, beautiful and practical. However, after the new Mavericks update a few weeks ago, Fliqlo hasn't been updated for the new OS X system and therefore does not work with Mavericks.
In stead, I've found a couple of alternatives for beautiful screensavers - and don't worry; if you don't have a Mac, but instead are using a Windows computer, don't close this post down just yet! Because I'm glad to tell you that many screensavers today actually work on both Mac and Windows operating systems.

Here's a few of the once I've downloaded - for free and entirely legal - over the last couple of weeks:

Fliqlo

Flawless and beautiful, Fliqlo can be downloaded here and works for both Mac and Windows.
Note: After the new Mavericks for Mac, Fliqlo has yet to be updated. Still works with older OS X operating systems though.

FlipClock

A nice alternative while we're waiting for Fliqlo to update, is the FlipClock Europe 0.5 screensaver.
It works fine with Mavericks, and you can get both an American version (AM and PM) or an European version (24 hours). You can get the FlipClock screensaver(s) by following this link.
Side Note: This is currently the screensaver I'm using the most.

3D FlipClock Screensaver

Yet another flip clock screensaver, although this one is just for the people using Windows - I thought I'd be a good girl and throw this one in too. Get it here.

Build Clock Screensaver

A nice alternative with an artistic edge. A bit distracting yes, but still very pretty - why not give it a chance? Get it here and prepare to be mesmerized. Works with Mavericks update.
Note: Needs an email signup for their newsletter, but don't worry; they don't fill your inbox with mails.

Word Clock

Word Clock is a very simple and nice looking screensaver, which works as a clock, only instead of numbers it has the time in words. It's something new, and yet I can't figure out why it hasn't been done before. Works for both Mac (with Mavericks) and Windows, and you can get it for free here.

The Almanac Zoo

Clusta's "Almanac Zoo" is the last screensaver I have for you today. It's cute and funny and still very stylish and pleasant to look at. Minimalistic - yes - and also adorable. You can get the screensaver for free here, and it works for both Mac (Mavericks) and Windows.

Small Space Inspiration #2

Hello, happy weekend people!
It's Saturday - woohoo! And what a lovely day it has been. Yesterday I was out having a cuppa coffee with my mum, which was a nice way of breaking in the weekend. Today I've been happy at home, doing some of the stuff that needs to be done. So after giving the bathroom a thorough cleaning and doing a gigantic pile of laundry, I'm now kicking' back with a big cuppa tea and a movie.

Well anyway, now for today's post:
I cruise the web for interior blogs almost every day, and every time I come across a small apartment I get a smile on my face. Often blogs, magazines and TV programs on interior decoration only give you tips on how to arrange a place with lots of space. But the fact is, that most people don't have a gigantic house or a ten bedroom apartment.
I myself live in a studio apartment, and every day I thank myself for how I - over a many years - have managed to style the place so that I have room for all of my stuff, but still lots of floor to walk on... although my mum don't quite agree with that, haha.
Anyway, this beautiful Scandinavian apartment is small, and serves both as a living room and bedroom. I like the soft purple colors and the small details, and I would just kill for a kitchen like that!

Have a beautiful and happy Saturday

Farm house in Sweden

Goodevening to all of you lovely people out there!
I do love old Swedish houses. As some of you might know, I often spend my vacations in our own Swedish farm house by the countryside. I can't resist an old Swedish farm house; the red - or Faluröd, as it's called in Swedish - colour of the house, the old fireplaces inside and just the feel of the place.
This Swedish farm house was built by the owner, a carpenter, who lives here with his wife and son. The house works as a place to live and a studio. I like it, but nothing compares to the one my family owns, haha.
Have a evening day and be happy

Bless This Mess

Goodevening, dear Internet friends - how are you today?
My Wednesday has been wonderful; I had the day off, so I've been taking it easy,
doing my homework for tomorrow, coloured my hair...

... and then I did this. I often get very inspired by different pictures on Instagram and interior blogs I read,
and about an hour ago an idea got stuck in my head.
I have this small space between my windows, and every so often, I like to change the look of the otherwise small piece of boring and white wall. Currently, I'm so in love with blackboards and have them everywhere! My mum gave me this one a couple of weeks back, and I couldn't quite figure out where I wanted it. Today, however, it hit me: I wanted it in plain sight!
So I got my beloved toolbox out, measured up and hung the blackboard, decorated it with nice lights - and of course, as I do like a little clutter, some different prints to fill out the rest.

I really like the result; as said before, it's now in plain sight from my favorite spot on the couch,
and the chain of lights draws focus to the blackboard message.
"Bless this mess" is one of my favorite sayings, and it is really fitting for my little studio-haven.

No more posting from me today, but I hope you all are having a nice evening.
Remember to smile and be happy - it'll make your life that much better

Walk in closet inspiration

These pictures are from IKEA's Livet Hemma blog, and today the post is about a walk-in closet - of course decorated with different items from IKEA.
There are no need for words here; I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves and let you get inspired - and maybe dreaming of a bigger closet?

Spot the flamingo!

New day, new opportunities! I'm actually on my way out; it's Monday and I have night classes in 30 minutes - yawn! I don't quite feel up to it tonight; it's dark, it's cold... BUT it's English, so that makes it all better!

And now for todays post:
This Swedish Helsingborg apartment was built in 1928 and recently remodeled. I love the light, the mix of colors and the flamingo - can you spot it?

Have a special day with secret smiles and happy memories

A touch of brass

Another week is almost over, and a new one is about to begin. Yes, it's Sunday and it's getting darker and darker, and it seems like the rain will never stop pouring. So I thought it would be nice to post about a very light and Summery apartment today.
Yes, it's time for a new Göteborg apartment, and this one is a good one. I'm very much in love with metals at the moment, so these brass lamps are just to my liking. And who can resist a SMEG fridge and a small balcony? Certainly not me!
Have the greatest day, and don't forget to smile and be happy
