Prep for Christmas with numbered Advent candles

We're almost halfway through this Christmas month, and already it's the 3rd of Advent this Sunday. Why not get inspired by these pictures then?
Anyway, no need for words here, just get a little Advent inspiration from these pictures from IKEA's Livet Hemma blog:

Have a happy December day ♡

Something white to match the snow

Well, almost! We don't have any here in Denmark - I've just watched the news and weather forecast, and according to the weather man, we may be lucky and get some snow a couple of days before Christmas Eve. Ah well, I really am dreaming of a white Christmas; last year we had loads before we even hit December 5, and this year it's just rainy, foggy and grey. Jack Frost, where have you gone to?

Anyway, this gorgeous Swedish apartment is just what the doctor ordered. As you know, I am very fond of Swedish homes, and this one is no exception. And oh, of course a fireplace right in the corner of the living room. Oh Lord, why was I not born in Sweden? Oh well, I'll just crank up my old radiator and cozy up with a cuppa tea.

Have a lovely evening and don't forget to smile... there's always something to smile about

Life Lately.

Oh, what an absolutely wonderful day I had yesterday!
I saw Maria for the first time in months! She's been a little under the weather lately, but luckily she's bounced right back, and then finally yesterday we both had a day free, and of course we had to see each other. Boy oh boy how wonderful it was; we jibber jabbered a lot, ate a lot, drank tea and coffee a lot - and well, just had an absolute cozy and happy  Christmas time together.
As I followed her back to her car, it actually started snowing! Well, only for about 30 seconds, but still..! I am sososo wishing for snow this Christmas, so I did a little happy dance right there in the parking lot. If snow really comes to town, then I'll be the merriest girl in all the land!
Later, after washing what seemed like a thousand dishes - as said before, we ate a lot - I sat down with a big cuppa cinnamon tea, a little Christmas snack, candles and a Christmas movie.
What a wonderful day it was...

Today I'm enjoying this second Sunday of Advent inside. There was a little bit of snow outside this morning when I woke up, but unfortunately, the cruel Danish Winter rain has washed it all away. No matter, I'm still having a gay old time inside in the warm apartment. I got up early, enjoyed endless cups of coffee and a few ciggys, and right now I'm just returning to the living room after spending an hour in the kitchen Christmas baking. Honestly, is there anything like Christmas and the smell of sugar cookies in the oven? I think not

Have the happiest and most jolly December Sunday
- be safe, be happy and smile

Life Lately. and a Winter Wonderland

Hello on such a stormy, grey and cold day here in DK.
Yes, a storm has - once again - been raging over Denmark since yesterday, and it's almost impossible to venture out and do stuff in the great big world. So alas, I'm home - and a little bit ill, as a matter of fact. But ah, it's slowly retrieving and I'm feeling better today.
However, I'm really sad that we haven't gotten any snow - at least not in Roskilde. My Christmas spirit can never be killed, but I do miss the snow - a lot! It would be so much more Christmassy with snow everywhere, but what can you do?

Well, I'll tell you! You can have a look at these wonderful pictures and dream of snow. Because, after all, it's that time of year where you ought to be jolly and happy, find your skates, make a snowman, get into a merry snowball fight, bake cookies, drink hot chocolate, decorate a tree, watch movies and curl up by the fire. Yes, Christmas is upon us, and what a happy time it is!

From me (and the lovely people over at IKEA's Livet Hemma blog) to you; here are some fantastic pictures of a Winter wonderland.

Happy Christmas, merry December day and all that jingle ♡

DIY: Advent Calendar Idea

It's Christmas, and though we may be a couple of days into December, it's never too late to do something nice for someone.
Why not make an Advent Calendar? Here's a great idea from IKEA's Livet Hemma blog. Now, I will not provide you with ideas for the actual gifts, but when it comes to hanging them in a stylish and cute way, why not try this?

Happy Christmas, now go play in the snow - that is if you have any

Christmas decorated Skåne home

Those lovely Swedes!
They sure know how to style a home. This Skåne home is decorated in soft and simple tones for a mild and relaxing holiday.
It truly is a wonderful season, yes?

On a more personal note, I've chosen to take a "sick" day today.
Ah yes I know, not very adult and responsible of me, but what can you do when you're woken up by a very huge and very noisily crane outside your window at 5.30 in the morning? I was supposed to be in school all day; from 11 to 10 at night.
But no, none of that today.
In stead, I'm home sitting on the couch with a blanket and a big cuppa tea,
watching Christmas movies and baking a chocolate cake - life could be worse!

Have a very merry December day ♡

A very merry 1st of December in Apartment 107

It's FINALLY December, and I'm as happy as can be!

Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year. I start to get into the Christmas spirit of things in early October, so I feel like I've waited for this day forever.
But now it's finally here, and I spent all of yesterday putting up the last decorations. I'm in such a jolly mood; all I'm gonna do today is sit back, light a bunch of candles, listen to Crooners singing Christmas songs, watch Christmas movies and drink tea and eat cookies. What a very merry day it is!

Have the best 1st of December, and remember to be oh-so-happy and jolly today

You can have simplicity back

It's always nice when you can combine two rooms and use up the space - without it being crowded. I love the fact that this white bedroom is kept so simple in white and grey tones. And I'm just so so so in love with the small and discrete desk and the HAY clothing rack.
Have a great day, don't forget to be happy, smile and laugh today

Christmas has come to Apartment 107

Every where I go, I see Christmas. Decorations are hung in the streets of Roskilde, all of the shops have been selling Christmas decorations for months now, and it seems that I'm the only one who hasn't gotten ready for Christmas.
Not that I haven't been tempted to do it weeks ago! I've always had my own tradition of decorating for Christmas the day before the 1st of December, and since I'm the biggest Christmas goose, I've actually been holding myself back.

However, when I went to get the mail a couple of hours ago, there it was: A clear sign that today was the day to get ready for Christmas!
Last Friday I ordered a Christmas Calendar TV Show from when I was a kid, and I didn't count on it being here already. But there it was; "Krummernes Jul" just waiting for me to watch it. So I made myself a big pot of coffee, put on the dvd and just couldn't restraint myself any longer!
So I put on some shoes, went down to the basement, searched my way through all of my storage crap and found my big box of Christmas things.
For the last four hours I've been hanging Christmas lights, decorated my little plastic Christmas tree and been singing along to Christmas tunes.

I haven't gone all out this year, but kept it simple and cosy. However, I'm sure that there will be many add-ons over the next month or so. But ah, what a wonderful day it has been. Here are a few snippets from just one corner - there's a bit more around the place, but you'll have to wait until next week.

Have a happy happy Tuesday

Snippets from Apartment 107

Ah, it's a soft Saturday today.
I had a long, but great day yesterday. First morning classes at school, and then later a little shopping at Ro's Torv, Roskilde's Mall. Then I met up with Kasper, we grabbed a bite to eat and then we saw Hunger Games - Catching Fire.
I'm a huge Hunger Nerd, and I've really been looking forward to the next installment of the franchise. Having read all of the books many times, I was exited to see how they'd adapted the second book to a movie. But boy oh boy, it was great! Still, it can't beat the first movie, but it was absolutely fantastic and overwhelming.
Then after the movie, Kasper and I walked the short way back to my place, where we enjoyed cups of tea, sweet clementines and a lot of movie talk. Ah, it was such a great day yesterday!

Today I'm super tired, but super happy. I'm having a cozy time right now, sitting in my favorite spot on the couch, reading my new home interior magazine and having a cuppa chai latte with cinnamon while candles are burning.
What a happy and soft Saturday it is

Inspiration for setting a beautiful table (and a little Life Lately.)

Hello on such a cold, dark and rainy Tuesday!
I hope you're keeping your spirits up despite of the weather, and that you all have had a great day.
I was Skyping with Kasper all of last night, so I got up way too late today. However, I still managed to give my vote in the Danish "Kommunevalg 2013" and, as a funny side note, I've also gotten my very first pair of glasses today. I'm supposed to wear them all the time now, so I'm a little exited to hear what my friends and family have to say about them.

Well anyway:
These pictures comes from the Swedish blog IKEA is hosting, called "Livet Hemma." I love to have a look at this site from time to time; I always get so inspired. Just like I did with these pictures.
Don't you just want to invite all of your friends over, set a table as beautiful as this and then just have the best night ever?
See you, remember to smile

Screensavers for Mac and Windows

A couple of weeks back I got my very first MacBook - a spankin' new MacBook Air, to be precise.
It's the best gift I've ever gotten; I've always had Windows computers, and while they are slightly easier to work from the get-go - compared to a Mac, in my opinion - they do tend to run out of gas fairly quickly.
Funny thing is, a year ago I was the ultimate Apple hater, and today I own an iPhone, an iPad Mini and now my beloved MacBook Air. Quite a change for one year.

Anyway, I'm in love with my Mac; once I got into all of the different ways of doing things - thanks to my own personal Apple guru and best friend, Kasper (find his blog here) - I can't imagine how I could live with "just a Windows computer" before. Don't get me wrong; I ain't mocking Windows, but I'm just so wrapped up in my Mac right now - haha.

Well, I'm quite babbly today, but the thing I wanted to post about was this:
A MacBook in itself is a piece of art, but I've found that different "goodies" can make a huge difference to just a black screen. A screensaver can go a long way, and it can actually compliment the interior in your office, living room or where ever you keep your computer.

I'm not so fond of the original screensavers that came with the Mac, so I quickly became obsessed with finding screensavers myself.
Of course I turned to Fliqlo right away; it's simple, minimalistic, beautiful and practical. However, after the new Mavericks update a few weeks ago, Fliqlo hasn't been updated for the new OS X system and therefore does not work with Mavericks.
In stead, I've found a couple of alternatives for beautiful screensavers - and don't worry; if you don't have a Mac, but instead are using a Windows computer, don't close this post down just yet! Because I'm glad to tell you that many screensavers today actually work on both Mac and Windows operating systems.

Here's a few of the once I've downloaded - for free and entirely legal - over the last couple of weeks:

Fliqlo

Flawless and beautiful, Fliqlo can be downloaded here and works for both Mac and Windows.
Note: After the new Mavericks for Mac, Fliqlo has yet to be updated. Still works with older OS X operating systems though.

FlipClock

A nice alternative while we're waiting for Fliqlo to update, is the FlipClock Europe 0.5 screensaver.
It works fine with Mavericks, and you can get both an American version (AM and PM) or an European version (24 hours). You can get the FlipClock screensaver(s) by following this link.
Side Note: This is currently the screensaver I'm using the most.

3D FlipClock Screensaver

Yet another flip clock screensaver, although this one is just for the people using Windows - I thought I'd be a good girl and throw this one in too. Get it here.

Build Clock Screensaver

A nice alternative with an artistic edge. A bit distracting yes, but still very pretty - why not give it a chance? Get it here and prepare to be mesmerized. Works with Mavericks update.
Note: Needs an email signup for their newsletter, but don't worry; they don't fill your inbox with mails.

Word Clock

Word Clock is a very simple and nice looking screensaver, which works as a clock, only instead of numbers it has the time in words. It's something new, and yet I can't figure out why it hasn't been done before. Works for both Mac (with Mavericks) and Windows, and you can get it for free here.

The Almanac Zoo

Clusta's "Almanac Zoo" is the last screensaver I have for you today. It's cute and funny and still very stylish and pleasant to look at. Minimalistic - yes - and also adorable. You can get the screensaver for free here, and it works for both Mac (Mavericks) and Windows.
