DIY: Polkadot Wall

Hi guys!
Since I'm a little too tired to take pictures and sit down and write a post about them today, I thought I'd share this cool DIY instead:

This fantastic DIY comes from Maiju over at My 2Hand Life.
Why not try it for yourself? I would do it, but unfortunately my walls
are already covered in pictures, cuttings, postcards and light chains. Oh well, maybe next time, yeah?

Have a wonderful day

Mix it up in the kitchen

Hello on such a wonderful day!

Loads of kitchen stores provide the actual kitchen, but the personal touches and coziness... well, those you have to come up with yourself.
So why not get inspired by this lovely white kitchen, witch has a wonderful mix of black, green, gold, brass and wood.

Have a lovely day - remember to smile

Fantastic Frank

It seems only fitting that I blog a little bit about some Swedish homes when I actually am in Sweden
- but then again, who am I kidding? I practically only blog about Swedish homes, haha!

Today's inspiration comes from the Swedish estate agents "Fantastic Frank." These images are not from one specific apartment or home, but just a selection of very beautiful places and spaces.
Have a great day, I have to get back to my cuppa coffee and my book now

DIY: How to paint IKEA's Frosta stool in any colour

Hello to you all on such a fine and sunny Sunday - how are you all doing? Had a great weekend?

Today I thought that I would show you how to paint the Frosta stool, which you can buy at IKEA for almost no money!
I don't know how it is around the world, but take a look in any teenagers room or the apartment of a young adult in Denmark,
and you're sure to find this exact stool. As said before, it's really cheap, really sturdy and can be used as an extra seat or a side table. There are tons of IKEA Hacks on the net on how to turn the Frosta into - well, pretty much anything! I've seen it as a sleigh, a TV table, a hat rack, a play bike and so on. If you're looking be a little creative, then just Google "IKEA Hack Frosta"...

... However, that craving for being creative can also be fulfilled right here!
There's no denying that the Frosta stool is practical, but not the prettiest of furniture - colour wise.
But as always: A little creativity, patience and imagination can go a long way.
So if you want the Frosta to match your other furniture, then all you have to do is paint it.
For inspiration, try to Google "IKEA Frosta paint" or come up with your own funny and creative idea.

NOW I KNOW that practically everyone says that you have to sandpaper it first, and that is true with bigger (and possibly more valuable) furniture. But I find that since this stool is so cheap, you don't have to go all out with the pre-painting part. Besides, if you just plan on using the Frosta as a small side table, this is the DIY for you. However, if you plan on using it as an everyday stool, then consider sandpapering, painting and varnishing it. It's a bigger project, but the paint will hold longer and it won't be as prone to dents and scratches.

Here we go

- I did not sandpaper my Frosta.

- In stead I cleaned it with a damp cloth and then let it dry off completely before painting.

- I spread a bunch of old newspapers on the floor,
making sure that I wouldn't accidentally splatter paint on my other furniture or the wooden floor.

- I turned it upside down and started with the legs of the stool.

- With a big brush I painted the stool using simple acrylic paint. You can find it in every craft store.
Making sure I got into every nook and cranny,
I painted one thick layer of paint, turning it back right side up and then painting the upper part of the stool.

- I let it dry for 12 hours before adding another thick coat of paint.
Depending on how many coats you do, let it dry for 12 (one coat) to 24 (two coats) hours.

After just one day you'll have an all new Frosta!
You can do this in any colour - though with lighter colours, you'll need to do 2-3 coats of paint,
letting it dry for 6-12 hours between every coat.

This is just such a lovely - and easy + cheap - way to add new life to your Frosta.
As a bonus, acrylic paint is really cheap and you'll only use about a tube of paint, so there's no reason for not trying this out!
It can even be done in your living room, if only you remember to spread a lot of newspapers on the floor before painting.

Have so much fun doing this - I had, and I love the result.
Lots of positive thoughts and have the happiest of sunny Sundays

In this case, I love the case

Hello and happy Tuesday to you all!

Tuesday is a lovely day - mainly cause it's my day off.
Today, however, I have even more reason to smile. I just god a parcel in the mail,
and in it was my two new cases for my iPhone and iPad mini.
I actually ordered them a couple of weeks back, but since they were shipped from Thailand, it took a little while.
However, they are totally worth the wait! It's no secret that I do love black and white stripes - they're everywhere in apartment 107. And since it was time for new cases anyway, I thought I'd match them up with my home interior. And oh how lovely they look!

Well, that's all from me today.
Have the happiest of days - and remember to smile and be happy

If you're interested in getting a new case too, I suggest to stop by rabbitsmile's Etsy page - that's where I've ordered all of my cases.

Apartment 107 - My workspace

Hallih Halluh on a chilly January evening.

Tomorrow I have school all day, and since my night classes end at 10 PM,
I figure I won't have the time to post. So instead, I thought I'd post some pictures from my own home tonight.
It's hard to find places for every important home section in a one-bedroom apartment, but I think I make it work.
My workspace is a good example of that:

For a long time, I used this table as a dining table - which it is - but a few months back,
I decided I needed a workspace more. I eat in front of the telly anyway - ah, single life, haha.
Anyways, It's the perfect little spot for concentrating on homework or blog posts, plus it fits perfectly in that little nook.

I hope all of you are having fun gearing up for a new week.
Stay warm and keep on smiling

Tour of my teeny tiny bathroom

Well, hello to a beautiful and sunny Saturday here in DK, and hello to all of you!

It's not that often I show you my own home, but today I thought I'd give you a teeny tour of my tiny bathroom. I did a similar thing with my kitchen a long time ago, but it's changed a bit out there as well, so I'll give you a tour of that another time.
Well anyway, the thing that brought this post on was actually my cleaning obsession.
Today I woke up early and I just felt like I needed a morning project. So I decided to clean the bathroom, but that quickly turned into a "raid." I decided to finally de-clutter out there, which has been a long time coming.

As you can see, there's not much room out there, so to the naked eye, it doesn't seem like there's much to de-clutter. However, right outside my bathroom door I have a tall closet in which I keep bathroom related odds and ends, plus I have some bathroom trolleys under the sink which needed a little de-cluttering as well.
It was a nice project; it took two hours, three trash bags and a lot of choices (in the sense that I am a bit of a collector, so I have a hard time throwing things out), but now it's finally nice and tidy out there.

As I've said many many many times before, I live in a small studio apartment. It's old, dingy and small, the kitchen is teeny, the bathroom is tiny, I sleep on a sofa bed - but oh how I love this apartment! It's my little kingdom, and even though I'd like to make a lot of changes, I do love this place and wouldn't trade it for anything!

Well, that's it for me today. I have a Danish paper due, however I find myself drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes instead, browsing cool 60's inspired clothes on the internet. Oh well, it is, after all, Saturday!
You all have a lovely day - go out and enjoy the sunshine, and remember to be oh-so-happy that it's finally weekend

White as Winter - and Dutch

Hello on such a rainy and cold day.
Today I'm going to be cooked up inside all day, because I've decided to be a responsible student and spend the day doing a lot of homework. So if you're looking for me, try to find me in the old Swedish house, upstairs in the study with a big pot of coffee and books everywhere.

Well anyway, today I have the first Dutch apartment on f&f.
This gorgeous Winter white apartment had to be featured today. I won't say much, but merely let these pictures inspire you.

Have a happy day and
Smile ten times - then smile twenty more!

A lovely evening in Apartment 107

Hello and goodevening to you all.
Well, I've have had a very productive day today. Despite going to bed way too late and getting up at noon today, I've managed to get a lot of things done - which is always lovely.

I'm on my Christmas break right now, and already I'm feeling a bit restless. So today, after getting up and having several cups of coffee, I decided not to waste the day away and started to clean the whole apartment. Yes, I've been in every corner, nook and cranny and the place is just spotless now - and that is just oh so lovely!
Then I wrapped some Christmas presents for my folks whilst listening to old crooners singing Christmas tunes, and then, still feeling restless, I started painting some wooden bookcases black, so that they match the rest of the place.

And then suddenly, day turned into evening, and I'm finally kickin' back with a big cuppa tea
- in my new cup I got from IKEA a couple of days ago (and by the way, the striped knitted blanket is also an IKEA purchase) -
and back-to-back episodes of Sex & The City.
My couch corner really is the place where I spend most of my time when I'm home. It's oh so cozy, and with the subtle light from the chain of lights and candles, it's next to impossible not to feel happy and relaxed.

But well yes, that's it from me tonight.
I hope all of you have had a nice Monday, and that you're feeling just as happy and relaxed as me.
Have the happiest of December evenings

Classy Christmas

What a wonderful December day it is!
Today was my last day of school, so now I'm officially on Christmas holiday - and oh how great it feels! I'm celebrating with a cuppa coffee with cinnamon and a Christmas movie, and well, life is pretty great right now.
Anyway, since it's such a lovely day today, I thought I'd make it even better with a little classy Christmas inspiration.

... These pictures come from a Danish home, and I must say I am a little bit in love with the classy Christmas theme. I love that it's subtle and simple, but still create a very cozy and Christmasy feeling.

Have a great December day - if you have any, then please go play in the snow. Oh, and throw a snowball for me
